About Us

My name is Kyle Freebairn and I started surfing at the age of ten off the North Shore of Oahu. Growing up in a family of surfers, my uncles introduced me to this wonderful sport and it soon became a passion. I’ve had the opportunity to surf on breaks all around the world from Southern Cali, to Costa Rica, from Hawaii to Asia. Throughout the years I have become friends with many people that had never surfed, but wanted to try. I have always had enough boards to take most of my friends out surfing, but it soon came to the point where they wanted to buy their own board. With Clark Foam, the principle supplier of PU foam blanks, closing shop the price of a new surfboard shot up, and this price left most of my friends either looking at used waterlogged boards, or just giving up on the idea of making the investment in a new board of their own.

I didn’t want the unnecessarily high price of a new surfboard to keep people from experiencing the joy that surfing has to offer. I found and partnered with experienced shapers who get their blanks from Australia. After surfing on their shapes and making sure the quality was of the highest professional standard, Horizon Surfboards was born. With these strategic alliances, and virtually no overhead, Horizon Surfboards is able to offer surfboards of such quality that even the most experienced surfer will be more than satisfied, but also able to offer boards at prices that aren’t burdened with the non-value-adding expenses that are tied up in most boards currently sold.
